Narborough Road was closed between Upperton Street and Braunstone Gate last night, after a man was shot in the leg.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and police have confirmed they are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.
A Police spokeswoman said: “Around 10.40pm, police attended an address in Equity Road, Leicester. When officers arrived, a man left the scene and a firearm was discharged.”
“He was quickly detained by officers and has been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to one of his legs.”
“A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.”
Police had cordoned off the area while they carried out their investigations. The road was fully reopened this morning.
