Police investigation launched after man stabbed in Leicester

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in the back in the Newfoundpool area of the city.

The incident happened on Stephenson Drive, at about 7pm on Sunday 28 January, near to the junction with Beatrice Road.

The victim was stabbed from behind in his lower back and required hospital treatment for his wound. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Officers are anxious to trace five black males in their late teens or early 20s who were wearing dark clothing.

Police believe they may have information which could assist them with their enquiries. The group were seen leaving the area by Beatrice Road and walking onto Alma Street.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident which could help them with their investigation.

Detective Constable Mike Archer said: “We are continuing our enquiries into this incident and know that it is likely that people in the area at the time saw what happened or may have information which could help us.”

“Were you in Stephenson Drive, Beatrice Road, or around that area, at around 7pm on Sunday 28 January and see anything which caused you concern?”
