Police appeal after man struck by car in Leicestershire

Police are appealing for help in identifying the driver of a vehicle after a man was struck by a car in Leicestershire.

The incident took place on Tuesday 30 October between 6pm and 6.30pm, on Copt Oak, near Markfield.

The incident involved the drivers of a white Mercedes van and a small silver car, which both left the M1 at junction 22.

Both vehicles travelled along the A511 and later stopped at the exit road onto Whitwick Road, close to the roadworks on the bridge.

The driver of the van approached the silver car to speak to the driver and in the process of the silver vehicle leaving the scene, he was struck by the car.

The man attended the urgent care centre after sustaining cuts and bruising.

The investigating officer, PC Ken Huddart, is keen to trace the driver and speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

He said: “I’m eager to trace the driver of this car and speak to anyone who may have seen the incident on Whitwick Road or the events leading up to it.”

“If you have any information which could help our investigation, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Leicestershire Police on 101.
