Police name man who died in Wigston burglary

A man who died following a burglary in Wigston has been named by Police.

Howard Staff, 66, was at his home in Gibson Close at 3.45pm on Monday 13 January, when a man entered the house and assaulted him.

The man then left the house taking a quantity of cash with him.

Mr Staff suffered a number of chest injuries and died in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday (14 January) morning.

A post-mortem examination has determined that Mr Staff died as a result of significant chest injuries. These injuries were not believed to be caused by a knife.

Another man was also assaulted in the incident, suffering minor injuries. He was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

The family of Mr Staff has asked for privacy at this time and that they are left to grieve in peace.
