Man’s body found in car inside ditch in Leicestershire

Police have closed off a road in Leicestershire following the discovery of a man’s body in a car.

Police were alerted after the car was found in a ditch this morning on the A426, Lutterworth Road, in Dunton Bassett at about 7.40am.

Officers believe the car, a blue Subaru Impreza, was the only vehicle involved. They say it left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, believed to be a 25 year old local man, sustained fatal injuries.


Police located the vehicle approximately 700 metres from the Dunton Bassett crossroads, on the Blaby side. It is believed the car was travelling towards Blaby.

Paramedics and fire crews were
called by the police. Attempts were made to resuscitate the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “Work is being carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

“The road is currently closed and is likely to be for a number of hours.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle before the incident.
