Police were called to a supermarket near Fosse Park after a gang of masked men raided the store.
The incident happened at the Sainsbury’s supermarket near Fosse Park just after 11:30pm on Sunday 5 January.
It’s believed four men gained entry into the store whilst members of staff were present, who then alerted the Police.
The masked gang made off with a quantity of foreign currency. There were no injuries in the incident.
At this stage no arrests have been made. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the men or anyone who may have information to come forward.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “We were called at 11.40pm on Sunday 5 January to a report of four men attempting to enter a supermarket in Grove Farm Triangle, Leicester.”
“The incident was reported by members of staff, who were in the supermarket at the time.
“Entry was gained and a quantity of foreign currency was taken.”
