The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of Leicestershire.
It is predicting strong winds to hit the county later today (Monday 13 January), with the strongest gusts between midnight on Monday and midnight on Tuesday.
The heavy winds and rain is part of Storm Brendan, which is sweeping across the country, with gusts of up to 80mph hitting some parts of the UK.
The Met Office has warned there may be disruption to public transport and residents in the worst affected areas could experience short term loss of power.
Commuters have been advised to check their journeys before they travel and to allow extra time for their journey on Tuesday.
The weather warning was was issued yesterday (Sunday 12 January), and includes all neighbouring counties.
