A county road in Melton Mowbray was closed in both directions this morning after a road traffic accident which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.
The collision, which involved a motorbike and car, happened just before 6am on the A607 Leicester Road near the Gaddesby Lane crossroads.
The man riding the motorbike was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward or to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to make contact.
Detective Sergeant Gary Haines said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and understand there may have been people in the area at the time of the collision who have not yet spoken to us.”
“If this is you, then please make contact with us. A motorcyclist has been seriously injured and it is important that we speak to everyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.”
“Anyone who was on the road between 5.30am and 6.15am and who has any dashcam footage from this time should also contact us.”
Traffic was diverted away from East Goscote and Melton whilst police dealt with the incident.
