A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Hinckley in the early hours of this morning.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.
Police were called to Sword Drive in Hinckley at around 12.55am this morning to a report of a man who had been stabbed and was found injured.
Officers attended the scene and found an 18-year-old man with stab wound injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police had cordoned off the area and a number of roads close to the scene were closed. However they have since been reopened.
Detective Inspector Jonathan Blockley, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are starting to piece together the circumstances surrounding what happened and how this man sustained his injury.”
“While we have already identified a number of witnesses, it’s still important we speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information as to why it took place.”
