Police have launched a murder enquiry after a man was found fatally injured in Shepshed last night.
Police were called just before 9pm to a road accident off Gelders Hall Road. A vehicle was found at an industrial estate, which had apparently collided into a wall.
The driver of the vehicle was unconscious. After further examination he was found to be suffering from injuries which were not consistent with a road traffic collision.
The man died shortly afterwards at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified.
A 22-year-old man from Coalville has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody where he is being interviewed.
Detectives are also keen to trace two men seen running away from the industrial estate at the same time and who may have vital information about how the man sustained his injuries.
Detective Inspector Simon Shuttleworth, who is leading the investigation, said:
“It’s of critical importance that we trace these two people. It’s possible the men may have attempted to hitch a lift from a passing motorist. If anyone saw them, or anything else which they thought seemed unusual or suspicious, I need to hear from them.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and quote incident 649 of 16 March.
