Police have launched a murder enquiry after a young mother was found dead at her home in the Highfields area of Leicester.
Emergency services were called to a property on Bartholomew Street at 8.30am yesterday, after receiving reports that a woman had been seriously injured inside the house.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A cordon was set up around the house as officers carried out their investigations.
Police have not released the name of the deceased however we believe she is in her thirties and was the mother to three young children.
No arrests have been made at this time, however officers are appealing for the public to come forward with information.
Detective Inspector Mark Sinski from East Midlands Special Operations Unit said: “Our investigation is very much in its early stages and officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries.”
“I am, however, also appealing for public help and would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident.”
“As this happened shortly after 8.30am, I would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who was leaving for work or taking their children to school. Did you see anyone leaving the address in Bartholomew Street or acting in a manner that caught your attention?”
“Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could help my investigation.”
