A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was found stabbed to death in the Highfields area of Leicester.
Police were called to Bartholomew Street shortly after 2.30am this morning, after the body of the man was found.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation was launched immediately and consequently Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Leicester on suspicion of murder. He currently remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Nicole Main is leading the investigation. She said: “While one man has been arrested, our enquiries into this incident are continuing and officers remain in the area.”
“This is to both help with the investigation and offer reassurance to the local community. A scene preservation is in place in Bartholomew Street.”
“I would very much like to speak to anyone who has information but has not yet spoken to police. I believe that there will people living in the Highfields area who know what happened.”
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area at the time – for example taxi drivers – and who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle.”
Anyone who has information which could help officers with their enquires is asked to call them on 101, quoting incident 91 of 18 July.
