Mother and son treated in Leicester after mystery liquid thrown in their faces

A mother and son were treated in hospital after an unidentified liquid was thrown at them in a Leicester street.

The incident happened at around 6pm yesterday (3 May), while the pair were stood in Knighton Road, near the junction with Queens Road.

A dark blue Volkswagen Golf with blacked-out windows drove past and a liquid was thrown, hitting the woman on the face, neck and torso.

It hit her adult son on the left-hand side of his face. Both the woman and her son went to hospital after feeling a slight tingling and stinging sensation.

Detective Constable Adrian Davies, the investigating officer, said: “We don’t know what the liquid was, but the man who was a victim in this incident has been left with dry and flaky skin on his fingertips as a result.”

“I’d like to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark blue Volkswagen Golf in the area of Knighton Road at the time or who saw a liquid being thrown at these two victims.”

“If you have any information at all, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, I’d like to hear from you.”
