Pedestrian in serious condition after being hit by car in Leicester

A pedestrian is in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Leicester.

The incident took place on Welford Road, close to the junction with Heather Road, at around 11.30pm yesterday.

The collision involved a Citroen car and the pedestrian, a man in his 30s.

The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Police cordoned off the road to carry out an examination of the collision scene.

They are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Shortly before 11.30pm yesterday, police were called to a report of a collision in Welford Road, close to the junction with Heather Road.”

“It was reported that the collision involved a car and a pedestrian.”

“The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.”

“Enquiries are continuing. Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to call the police.”
