Four pedestrians hit by a car in Leicester city centre

Parts of Leicester city centre were closed yesterday after four pedatrians were hit by a car.

The incident took place shortly before 5pm on Mansfield Street in the city centre. The car also crashed into a metal fence surrounding a car park.

Mansfield Street and Churchgate were closed while emergency services dealt with the crash.

Paramedics, the air ambulance and firefighters were all at the scene. All the pedestrians were taken to hospital for treatment. The two people in the car were not injured.
