There are delays to train services between Leicester and Market Harborough this morning after a person was hit by a train.
The incident caused disruption on the London / Leicester / Nottingham routes operated by East Midlands Trains.
Emergency services are on site dealing with the incident which happened early this morning.
A spokesperson for East Midlands Trains said: “Sadly a person was hit by a train earlier today between Leicester and Market Harborough affecting our Intercity route.”
“Lines are now starting to re-open but the emergency services are on site. Be prepared for alterations and delays.”
“Our priority is now to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 8am.”
“Our trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations. You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and quickest way to get where you need to be.”
