Police car crashes into three cars while responding to an emergency

A police car responding to a 999 emergency call crashed into three cars this morning.

Police were called at around 11.20am this morning (Saturday 7 April) to a report of a burglary in progress at an address in Sutton Road, Kegworth.

Officers who attended the scene found two suspects trying to escape in a red saloon. They managed to detain one of the suspects, but the driver of the car fled the scene. Two officers were injured in the incident.

Enquiries are continuing to locate the suspect who escaped.

A police patrol car attending the burglary report was involved in a collision with three cars. The driver of the police vehicle was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Six members of the public involved in the collision did not require hospital treatment.

The investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are in the initial stages.
