Police name young driver killed in Leicestershire crash

A young driver from Earl Shilton who died after a fatal collision on the A47 last month has been named by Police.

Cameron Hill, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services who were called to the incident at 11.30pm on Friday 17 January.

The collision involved one vehicle, a black Hyundai Veloster, which left the road and landed in a wooded area near Peckleton Lane.

It happened a short distance from Desford Cross Roads, as the car was travelling towards Earl Shilton.

Police are continuing with their enquires and would still like to speak to anyone who saw the collision occur, or the Hyundai prior to the accident.

Officers confirmed a 21-year-old man was voluntarily interviewed in connection with causing death by dangerous driving.

Detective Constable Anita Rose, from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts very much remain with Mr Hill’s family at this time.”

“I would still like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A47 when this collision took place, but has not yet come forward.”

“Please cast your mind back. Do you remember seeing a black Hyundai Veloster at any point on your journey? If you have a dashcam in your vehicle, please check footage before it may be overwritten and if you think you have any information whatsoever, please contact police.”
