Police name man murdered in Mountsorrel

Police have named the man who’s body was discovered at a property in Leicestershire last week. 

Michael McNee was found dead inside a flat in Mountsorrel by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

They were called to an address in Chestnut Court just before 11am on Friday 22 May. The 40-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives arrested 41-year-old Benjamin Bracegirdle yesterday (25 May). He has been charged with the murder of Mr McNee.

Bracegirdle, from Loughborough, has been remanded in custody and appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The family of Michael McNee have issued the following statement:

“Michael was a much loved son, brother, nephew and uncle and we are heartbroken by his death and the horrific circumstances from which he was taken from us.”

“We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy at this time to allow us to grieve”.
