Car being pursued by Police crashes into woman in Leicester

A police pursuit led to a car crashing into a pedestrian in Leicester this morning.

The crash happened on Astill Lodge Road in Beaumont Leys. The car drove off after hitting the woman and was found later abandoned in the city.

The woman was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The pursuit began at around midday today after the car failed to stop for Police in the Beaumont Leys area.

As officers followed the vehicle onto Astill Lodge Road, it collided into the woman.

The road was closed while Police carried out an investigation of the scene. It has now reopened.

Enquiries are continuing to find the driver of the car. Anyone with information is urged to call Leicestershire Police on 101.
