Police search canal for missing Loughborough woman

Police investigating the disappearance of a woman have focused their search around the Grand Union Canal in Loughborough.

Linda Chambers , 43, was reported missing in September by a friend and a Police search has been underway to find her.

Divers were seen searching the waters yesterday. This is the second time Police are searching the canal, after specially-trained dogs were used to carry out searches last month.

Police are continuing to appeal for any information regarding her disappearance and would like to speak to anyone who can help with their enquiries to get in touch.

Linda is described as white, 5ft 3ins tall and has shoulder-length brown hair. She also wears glasses. She is known to regularly visit Queen’s Park in Loughborough as well as a gift shop in Churchgate.

Detective Inspector Simon Boden, from Leicestershire Police’s Missing Persons Operations Team, said: “We’re continuing to keep an open mind as to Linda’s whereabouts.”

“However, as searches in and around Loughborough have proved negative, our searches have naturally progressed to a canal that runs through the town. Following on from the searches carried out by dogs, divers are today searching the water.”
