Police divers search river for missing Leicester man

Police divers have been called in to support the search for a missing 58-year-old from Leicester.

Jasvir Leader was reported missing by his family on Wednesday after last being seen in the area of Wilberforce Road on Saturday 28 March.

A search has been underway to find Mr Leader including the use of a police drone to help locate him.

This morning (Saturday 4 March), specially trained officers will be carrying out water searches along the River Soar as part of the enquiries.

The searches are being carried out in the area between the King Power Stadium and Blackfriars bridge.

The public has also previously been asked to check outbuildings and sheds as part of the search for Jasvir.

It is out of character for Jasvir to be missing and, as time passes, officers and his family are growing increasingly concerned for his safety.

Jasvir is around 5ft 5ins tall, slim, has short dark hair which is greying and wears glasses. He may be wearing a dark green bomber jacket, woolly hat, dark trousers and shoes.

He has a medical condition making him dependent on regular medication and it is believed he has left home without it.

Anyone with any information about Jasvir is urged to call Leicestershire Police immediately on 101 quoting incident 216 of 1 April.
