Prince William visits Triumph Motorcycles in Hinckley

Motorcycle enthusiast Prince William has been to Hinckley today to visit Triumph Motorcycles.

The 35-year-old Prince was given a tour of the factory, the assembly line and met the technicians and apprentices who work there.

During the tour, he could not hide his excitement at seeing all the two-wheeled machines in various stages of construction.

After the tour he officially open the £4 million Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience at the firms Hinkley site.

The visitor experience will showcase the British brand through its 115-year history, showing off a priceless collection of bikes ridden by stars such as Steve McQueen, David Beckham and Tom Cruise.

Prince William then wore some gloves, helmet and jacket and went for a ride on a motorcycle, taking the Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT for a spin around the grounds.

He revved the engine and sped along towards the waiting press and braked gently before taking off his helmet and saying “very nice”, and adding to the media: “Your turn next guys.”

The Prince had previously admitted his love of motorbikes was on “the back-burner” because of his growing family. Kate has also previouly states she is “filled with horror” when her husband takes his motorbike out.

While in the Midlands, the Prince also visited the MIRA technology park in Warwickshire, which is at the forefront of automotive technology research and development.
