There was a ‘fairytale’ moment after a performance of Grease in Leicester, after a man proposed to his long-term partner.
Dana Wartnaby, who was working as the show’s sign language interpreter, was led to the middle of the stage by the cast at the end of the show.
She was then joined on the stage by her partner Tom Armstrong, who popped the question.
Ms Wartnaby said “yes” in front of an excited audience, cast and crew at The Curve Theatre.
The pair, from Queniborough, Leicestershire, met in 2011 and have two children.
Mr Armstrong, 34, had asked for her father’s blessing before getting the theatre’s help in setting the proposal up.
However he said he was ‘nervous’ throughout the show and had to have a ‘couple of beers in the interval’ to calm his nerves.
Ms Wartnaby, 31, said she was expecting to walk off stage at the end of the musical when the cast called her to the middle.
She said: “All of a sudden I saw Tom. I was even more surprised when he got down on one knee and proposed.”
“It was like a fairytale, I couldn’t believe it, everyone was so happy around us which made it extra special.”
