Dramatic pictures of ram raid at co-op in Scraptoft

A JCB telehandler was used to ram raid a cash machine in Scraptoft in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Main Street just before 4.20am today (Sunday 14 July) after the JCB was driven into the front of a Co-op store.

The raid caused significant damage to the building and it’s believed cassettes from the machine containing cash were stolen during the incident.

Initial enquiries have revealed up to three vehicles were used by the suspects, including the JCB.

The JCB and a white Toyota Hilux 4×4 was left at the scene. The suspects may have made off in a white or grey large Audi car, possibly a S4 or S5.

It’s believed the JCB may have been stolen from the Barkbythorpe area prior to the incident.
