These are the roads closed in Leicestershire due to flooding

A number of roads in Leicestershire are closed this morning after heavy rain hit the region overnight.

The roads affected include:

  • Church Hill Road in Thurmaston is closed in both directions, below the railway bridge
  • Slash Lane in Sileby is closed in both directions (pictured above)
  • Tilton Lane in Billesdon is closed due to flood water

More bad weather has also been predicted for Leicestershire, with Storm Dennis set to hit the county this weekend.

A yellow weather has been issued for strong winds across most of England and Wales for Saturday, starting from noon and lasting throughout the day.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Very strong winds in association with Storm Dennis are expected on Saturday across many parts of England and Wales.”

“Gusts of 50mph are expected widely inland, with around 60 mph in places. Around the coasts, especially in the west and south, gusts of 60-70 mph are likely.”

“This will be accompanied by heavy rain at times.”
