Senseless attack on 81-year-old man who confronted burglar in his home

Police are investigating a senseless assault on an elderly, vulnerable man in his own home in Leicester.

The incident happened on Friday 29 December at 3.30pm, at the man’s home address on Montrose Road South, on the Eyres Monsell Estate.

The victim, an 81-year-old man was confronted by a burglar in his kitchen.

He was then pushed over by the intruder, who stole cash from the victims wallet before leaving the house.


The elderly man has described the burglar as a white man, around 30 years old and approximately 5ft 7ins tall. He was of a thin build and was clean shaven. He was wearing a dark grey woollen hat, a black jacket, jeans, boots and spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing for any information about the assault.
