A fresh wave of snow will sweep across Leicestershire again this weekend — with a sequel to the Beast From The East that caused travel chaos at the beginning of the month.
A ‘yellow’ weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for snow for this weekend for most parts of Leicestershire.
Temperatures are set to plummet to as low as -2C as the cold moves in from Siberia and Scandinavia from Friday.
The air will not be as cold as the recent blast, however there will be a windchill, so temperatures will feel lower than thermometers indicate.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Snow showers are likely throughout Sunday, and where these converge some snow may well accumulate and could then prove disruptive.”
However, the weather is not expected to cause huge travel delays or lead to stranded vehicles on the roads, as was seen with the snow spell two weeks ago.
The extreme weather at the beginning of the month saw snow covering most of the country, and reached up to 50cm in parts of Scotland, making it officially the coldest March on record in the UK.
