Second stabbing in Leicester within 24 hours

A second stabbing was reported in the city within 24 hours, after a man was stabbed in the New Parks area of Leicester yesterday.

Police were called to St Oswalds Road at 5.26pm on Sunday 5 January, where a man was found with stab wound injuries.

The man, who is in his 20s, has been taken to hospital where he currently remains. His injuries are described as serious.

Enquiries are ongoing at the scene and road closures were in place in the area. No arrests have been made at this stage.

This follows another incident in Leicester city centre on Saturday night, where a young man was stabbed in Nando’s in the Highcross Shopping centre.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing in Nando’s.

Detective Inspector Chris Brett, who is investigating the stabbing in New Parks, said: “Enquiries are in the initial stages and we have officers in the area speaking with witnesses and providing reassurance as we work to find those responsible for this incident.”
