The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the East Midlands, with winds of up to 40mph expected to hit the region.
The warning remains in place for tonight and tomorrow, with the peak in the wind expected around midday tomorrow.
The strong winds are part of Storm Helene, which is making its way across the UK, bringing swirling gales of high winds.
Winds of up to 49mph are expected in some parts of the region including Nottingham.
The Met Office has warned that damage to trees is possible, with large branches or trees falling in a few places. Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are also likely.
Some short term loss of power and other services is also possible.
The adverse weather is expected to last from 9pm tonight and into tomorrow until 6pm.
