A 51-year-old man was treated by paramedics after a substance was thrown into his face and eyes in Leicester city centre.
The incident happened on Market Street on
Monday 13th August shortly before 11.30pm.
The man was treated by ambulance staff and firefighters, who washed the man’s face and eyes with water.
Police are searching for two men in connection with the incident. Both men fled the scene after the assault.
It is not clear what the substance is yet, but an initial analysis suggests it is a spice that could be used in cooking a curry.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “The man was treated at the scene but he was not taken to hospital. We would like to trace the two men responsible for this attack.”
Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call Leicestershire Police on 101.
