Teen fighting for life after crash with lorry in Leicestershire

Three teenagers were injured, one with life threatening injuries, after their car was involved a collision with a lorry in Leicestershire.

The accident occurred on the A511 Ashby Road near Coalville at 12.35am yesterday (Saturday 18 August).

The collision involved a grey Vauxhall Astra, which was travelling towards Ashby De La Zouch and a heavy goods vehicle which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The three men in the car, who are all 19, have been taken to the Queens Medical Centre. The driver has life threatening injuries, the front seat passenger is in a serious but stable condition and the rear seat passenger has minor injuries.

The lorry driver wasn’t hurt. No one has been arrested

Detective Constable Pete Davies said: “I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the Vauxhall Astra prior to the collision which happened just after half past midnight this morning and I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage which could help us with our investigation into how and why the collision happened.”

The A511 was closed but has now reopened.
