An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Hassan Jama in Highfields.
Ishaq Hassanjee, of Leicester, has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 22 July).
Hassan Jama, 19, was stabbed in Bartholomew Street in the early hours of Saturday morning (18 July). Emergency services were called to the scene, however the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an immediate search of the area, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Hassan died as a result of a single stab wound.
Another 19-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
