Police have named the teenager who died in a stabbing incident in the Belgrave area of Leicester.
The victim has been named as Rhys Singh Bahia. His death is currently being treated as suspicious.
Rhys was found injured by Police, along with another teenager, on Ross Walk at 9.15pm on Tuesday 31 October.
Both victims were taken to hospital and 17-year-old Rhys subsequently died. The second teenager, also aged 17, sustained injuries that are not believed to be life threatening and he is currently undergoing treatment for knife injuries.
A post-mortem examination has taken place which confirmed Rhys died as a result of stab wounds.
A 16-year-old who was arrested yesterday morning (Wednesday 1 November) on suspicion of murder and attempted murder remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.
Rhys Singh Bahia’s mum and dad paid tribute to their son in the following statement:
“We have just lost our son, there is nothing that will bring him back. He was a much loved son and brother. If you witnessed what happened please come forward and help the police. We would also ask that we have some privacy at this time so we can grieve”.
Detective Inspector Mark Sinski said “We are in the process of trawling through CCTV from the local area and would urge anyone who may own private cameras and may have captured any part of the incidents or the events leading up to it to contacts us.”
“We know there were a number of people in the area when the teenagers were found injured and we’d like to speak to anyone who was there between 8.30pm and 9.30pm and hasn’t yet spoken to the police to come forward.
