Teenager taken to hospital with stab wounds after Wigston attack

A 16-year-old boy was the victim of a stabbing in Wigston last night.

Armed police were deployed to the street after the boy was found injured in Holmden Avenue shortly after 9.30pm yesterday.

Police said that armed police were deployed to the scene ‘in the interests of police and public safety’.

The teenager was taken to hospital with a stab wound. The injuries were not serious and he has since been discharged.

Police have confirmed a bladed article has been recovered from the scene, however, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

Officers are continuing with their enquiries and are appealing for information following the incident.

Sergeant Stephen Lewin said: “We are asking anyone who was in the area of Holmden Avenue yesterday evening and who saw anything unusual or anything which caused them concern to get in touch.”

“Do you have any CCTV in the area, or were you driving in the area and have dashcam footage which could hold vital information? If you have any information at all, no matter how insignificant it may seem, then please get in touch.”
