Two children suffer serious injuries after being hit by car in Leicestershire

Two children from Leicestershire have been left with serious injuries after a collision with a car yesterday.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.

The collision happened in Overlord Drive, Hinckley, at around 5.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 18 April). A car, a white Kia Sportage, was involved in the accident.

A 10-year-old girl and nine-year-old boy were taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. They remain in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and police have not made any arrests, however, they are continuing with their inquiries surrounding the incident.

Detective Constable Michael Woods, the investigating officer, said: “This collision happened in a residential area when people are likely to have been arriving home from work.”

“Did you see the collision or did you see either the two children or the car beforehand?”

“If you have information of any kind that could help my investigation, then please contact me.”
