Two people have been killed and two are seriously injured in hospital after a crash on Soar Valley Way last night.

The incident happened at 11.45pm on Friday (23 November), when a a BMW X5 hit the central reservation. The two people killed, a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both sides of the dual carriageway were closed for over twelve hours as police carried out an investigation of the scene.

Soar Valley Way has now re-opened, however there is one lane coned out in each direction whilst repairs are carried out to the central reservation.

Area Traffic Control is still warning of traffic in the area, with only one lane open in each direction.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “We are currently investigating a road traffic collision that happened in Soar Valley way, close to Fosse Park, at about 11.45pm last night.”

“Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and a further two people are being treated in hospital where they remain in a serious condition.”
