Two men have appeared in court over the death of 16-year-old Megan Bannister.
Megan’s body was found in the back of a car following a collision between the vehicle and a motorbike on Desford Road in Enderby in May.
Jason Burder (28) of Braunstone Avenue and Adam King (27) of Waltham Avenue are accused of the manslaughter of the schoolgirl by gross negligence.
Both men appeared via videolink at Leicester Crown Court from HMP Nottingham. They did not enter a plea during the short hearing.
Megan’s family attended today’s hearing. In a statement issued following her death, her family said they were “utterly broken”.
They said: “The thought of life without Megan is impossible to imagine, and we cannot adequately express in words the sense of numbness and overwhelming grief we feel at her loss.”
Mr Burder and Mr King’s case has been adjourned until 8 September and the pair are due to face a trial in November.
