Police have launched an attempted murder inquiry after a woman was left in a serious condition after a hit and run incident this morning.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested following the collision in Sturdee Road in Eyres Monsell.
The road has been closed off by Police, who are treating the collision as a deliberate incident.
Emergency services were called to the crash at 11.20am, which involved a car and a pedestrian. It was reported that the car believed to be a Ford Kuga had fled the scene.
The woman has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Officers immediately began an investigation and were quick to locate the car. Subsequently, a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at an address in Blaby.
Sturdee Road remains closed to traffic and officers are continuing to carry out enquiries.
Police would also like to speak to anyone who saw the car prior to the collision occurring to get in touch.
