Woman critically injured after being hit by bus outside school in Leicester

A woman is in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a bus outside a school in Leicester.

The incident happened outside Humberstone Junior Academy, at the junction of Abbots Road North and Main Street, just after midday today.

The woman who is believed to be in her 60’s, was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. Her condition is described as critical.

The collision occurred at the junction of Abbots Road North and Main Street

No one else was injured in the incident.

The area around the scene of the collision remains closed as police carry out their investigation. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

Steins Lane from the junction with Hungarton Boulevard, Scraptoft Lane on to Vicarage Lane and Lower Ketham Lane to Main Street remain closed.

Humberstone Junior Academy said they were aware of the incident and confirmed none of their pupils have been affected.
